Conversation Club

Nebraska's Honorary Consul, Mila Saskova-Pierce, leads the Czech Conversation Club. It is held on the third Tuesday of each month on Zoom. Each meeting has a theme, and participants may practice their Czech language skills around that month's topic. Those interested should contact Mila for more information.

The Nebraska Czechs of Lincoln participated in the 62nd Annual Wilber Czech Festival Parades Aug. 5 & 6, 2023

This was the first time the Nebraska Czechs of Lincoln has participated in the Wilber Czech Festival parade(s).

We were able to attach our new club banners to be on full display on our "float" and they worked out great! (short banner is shown below/longer one was on opposite side). My goodness, did we ever go through the candy that was passed out to the kiddos! Lucky for us we got through Sunday's parade before the short rain came!

Joining in on the fun, Bev Vonásek (driver), Deb Vocasek, Mike & Susan Nagle, Layne Pierce, Tom Zumpfe (riders) and walking/handing out candy was Connie Jean Hulinsky, Diane Vesely-Robb and Maurice Vonásek. Connie Jean walked the parade on both days while Maurice tried to keep up with her! We're already looking forward to doing the parade next year!

Unfortunately, both our Queen, Miss Iva Marie Volfova and Princess, Miss Eizley Martinsen were unable to attend the Festival and parades this year.

Nebraska's Honorary Consul, Mila Saskova-Pierce also rode in the parade, unfortunately, we were unable to obtain a photo/video clip.

Rachel Taylor and her mother Carolyn did a Czech cooking demo on Sunday in Wilber's Czech Cultural Center

where they demonstrated how to make obložené chlebíčky (small sandwiches). They passed out recipes for the spread & sandwiches and a sample box was provided. Great job you two! Yum!
