She is
planning on majoring in forensic science
with a minor in criminal justice and is aiming to become a member of the FBI
and eventually the CIA.
Amanda
is looking forward to her reign as our Queen and wants to promote the growth
of Czech Festivals all around Nebraska.
Her
kroj was designed in memory of her late mother
and based off of her Czech ancestors. She decided to keep her dress simple
because for the most part her family comes from central Bohemia and were
just your common farming family. She added some Moravian touches to
represent the very small part Moravian she is. Her
kroj has white angel embroidery on the sleeves and the apron to
represent her mom and remind me that an angel is always with her.
Amanda has been very
active with her Czech heritage since she can remember.
She's enjoyed every Wilber Czech Festival since she was able to
walk. She danced with the Junior Czech Dancer s
under the direction of Sheryl Kastanek from age
6-11, then with the
Beseda Czech Dancers under the direction of Dirk Altman from age
11-15.
Amanda competed for
the Miss Nebraska Czech Slovak title on June 23,2007. She did not win, but
I had an amazing time competing for the title and meeting so many wonderful
people. It was a great learning experience for her that she will remember
for the rest of her life. Amanda's talent was an oral presentation on the
history of the Czech flag, it was a lot of fun to put together and taught
her a
lot about Czech history that she would've never known. |
